Testing

Blower_doorA blower door test quantifies the airflow through a home, and the heat or cooling loss that results. From this test, specific leaks can be identified and addressed.

A blower door consists of a mounted fan that it temporarily set up in a doorway. The fan moves air through a building and has attached pressure gauge to measure the rate of airflow that is required to keep the building at a certain pressure. The exaggerated air leaks that are created by the blower door, along with other tests like infrared cameras and using smoke pens illustrate trouble areas that need to be corrected through air sealing.
